Your submission list is impressive but why not include Yahoo amongst others?
Yahoo, Dmoz, and other Internet Directories require manual submission of your site.
They need for you to pick from a
large list of ever growing and changing categories and supply a description of
your site. It's not easy to find where to submit your site as they
prefer you pay for expedited submission. We give you direct URLs and instructions on how
to do it for free.
Some other major search engines no longer accept free submissions and charge what
we feel is an outrageous price just to be included without any guarantees on placement.
What they don't tell you is, that if your site is indexed by other search engines or
other sites have links to you they will in fact find "crawl" your website at some point
and consider you for inclusion. This however can take some time, and some people do
opt for expedited inclusion. By submitting to the major search engines, some of which share databases, you
will actually find yourself included on search engines that you never individually submitted to.
Some other search engines will charge your for top placement, but unless you have
a profit positive business model or are unafraid to burn some cash, it's not always
worth the cost. They charge per click or per impression. If you decide this
is the option for you, we tell you exactly where to go and how to stretch
your dollar.
I've seen other submission services that submit to thousands of sites and
guarantee high placement
Don't be fooled by pay services that claim to submit your site to thousands of sites.
99% of search engine traffic comes from top search engines. Anything beyond 40 search engines is
just filler — free for all link sites and small obscure or niche specific search engines that get
very little traffic. Nobody can guarantee you placement, unless it's a money back guarantee which they may
make difficult to reimburse. Some services guarantee to give you top placement but what they don't tell you
is that claim is because they you need to upgrade to premium placement which costs you money
and you can do for yourself. Premium placement must be maintained by continually depositing
funds to pay for the impressions or clicks your listing gets.
How soon do I get listed in the search engines?
Unfortunately that is a very difficult question to answer. Some search engines
will crawl your website instantly but take up to 3 weeks to index you in their
main database. And that'sif you get accept, which is not guaranteed. Our
optimization guide lists some of the major search engines and the
adverage time it takes to get listed.
If it's not guaranteed, how can I increase my chances of getting listed?
Most likely you will be, but nearly all search engines will tell you that submitting your
URL to them does not guarantee you will be included. A site that appears to be a duplicate
of another, or if your site doesn’t have enough content on it, are both common reasons for
non inclusion.
How often should I submit my site?
It is suggested not more than twice a month. Any more than that can get your URL
banned from various engines. If you haven't been listed, be patient.
